I have been reading quite a bit on photography blogs, magazines and pretty much anything I get my hands on related to photography and they all keep saying one thing.....specialize. Don't be a jack of all trades and offer to do all types of portraits all the time. Pick an area or two and learn everything you can learn about it to become the best you can be.
But how does one do this? According to what I have read you do it by taking note of what types of work gets you the most excited? Makes you jump out of bed and get ready to the session.....for me that would be working with seniors and models. I love doing senior/modeling type sessions. They are so much fun and you can be creative and really work with your client to get what they want. And you are capturing a moment in their lives that they will always remember and treasure.
I haven't quite decided if this is what I am going to specialize in as I am still new to the game however I am taking note and considering....after all I want to become the best photographer I can!!!
